January dragged for me, although looking back it actually did go by fast. The boys started swimming lessons and got back into the swing of school after a Christmas break. We had friends over and made volcanos! We enjoyed time with our family in Virginia despite the sad circumstances. But I’m glad to see January go. Bring on February! I want to make some Valentine’s Day Cookies . . .

A Target date with my girlie and Sophia reading about “Medusa” with yes, a snake wrapped around her neck (above).
Duncan giving his presentation at Classical Conversation below. This was something he was struggling with and I was so proud of him being so brave that day!

Using Jello to make a “layers of the earth” project.

Field trip to Vulcan, perfectly timed as we’re studying the earth.

Water infused with strawberry and lime. Also, the boys’ first maps. Trying to learn the “great circles” and where the continental “blobs” go.
Volcanoes! We did this project and it was great fun. I took “real” pictures of the explosion and will share in a later post.

Funny thing about the picture above left. Sophia isn’t allowed to have her paci unless in bed.
So one day she wanted to get in the crib around 10 a.m. and curled up and went to sleep. So cute!
I always love these. I thought you were abandoning Instagram, though? Did they change their policy after all the users were in an uproar and ready to leave?
What is that delicious-looking chocolate thing in your mug?
One fish, two fish, dead fish?? That’s a new one…
and the Vulcan place–great photo of that!
How goes the Romans memorization? I kind of wish I were doing that instead of John 5.
I’m using that same Bible reading plan, started last year, except I’ve modified it quite a bit. I began in Ezra, because that’s where I was already in my Bible reading at my own pace. So we (a couple of friends doing it with me) started the year in Acts, but decided instead of going straight through the NT all at once and then plodding through Numbers, 1-2 Chronicles, etc all in a row, we’re going to alternate: Genesis, Romans, Exodus, 1 Cor, Leviticus, 2 Cor. I’m excited about doing it that way.
Love Sophia’s little ponytail too ๐
Amy,
Instagram did change their policy after the hoopla so I decided to stay.
The chocolate thing in my mug is a homemade chocolate marshmallow I made for Christmas. I made coffee ones too. Yum!
The fish t-shirt is a painting shirt Duncan borrowed from a friend. I have no idea what it’s about. ๐ I left his at home somehow that day.
Romans is going okay. I was doing great but when Josh’s grandma died I got behind a bit and then sick kids last week. My devotions have been sporadic and I’m trying to get back on track! And I’m LOVING the Bible reading plan. Thanks for pointing me to that!
AWESOME photo of the quarry. What a great field trip that was, wasn’t it?And, I will say it again. The marshmallows are the BOMB! esp. the chocolate ones. I will make them myself one day.
I, too, love that shot of Sophia’s ponytail. So stinkin adorable, and you will be so happy to have that picture one day. I’m sure it’ll make you cry.
It’s so nice to do this once a month instagram snapshots of one’s life. When one is living life on a day to day, it feels so chaotic and unproductive (at least for me). But when you can step back and take a look at life through the lens of a camera, it allows for a different perspective and one sees we really are doing a lot of living, and productive living at that.
I’m glad you mentioned being behind on the Romans’ project. I think I’m a week behind as well. We’ll catch up together.
Joyce, the only other pictures I have are the ones I took of Amma’s Bible and then the one of us in the church below that I already posted, and then these here. That’s it. ๐
Love your pictures, Danielle.Do you have any other pictures from the time in VA?
I’d love to see them, if you do.
Love you,
Aunt Joyce
