Made these cookies over the weekend. I made them once before but didn’t make the citrus sugar. We made it this time, and boy, is it good! We LOVE this twist on regular chocolate chip cookies. And I simply cannot resist the orange/chocolate flavor combo.
2 sticks melted butter, cooled slightly (you do not want to cook the eggs)
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon orange extract
1 Tablespoon orange zest
2 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 package chocolate chips
For the Citrus Sugar:
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 Tablespoon orange zest
Mix the sugars into the cooled melted butter. Add the eggs and mix well. Add the orange extract and orange zest. Add the flour, baking soda, salt and mix well. When combined, add the chips.
In a small bowl, make the citrus sugar. Combine the sugar with the zest and sprinkle on top of the cookie batter. (I dipped my cookies into the sugar, thought it was easier.)
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.

They sound scrumptious! I am printing it out as we speak… may make them tomorrow 🙂

That does sound really yummy. If I end up making them and my family turns their noses up to them, I”ll know who to share them with.

I was just having a conversation earlier today about good flavor combos. We all agreed about orange and chocolate – I’ll have to try this recipe.

I seriously thought the title said “With a CIRCUS twist.” I was waiting for the peanuts for cotton candy to be thrown in 😉 I still can’t get into the orange/chocolate thing. I would certainly *try* one if they were laying around, but fear my love of “normal” cc cookies will keep me from making these.

Ha ha. I don’t know, Lib, these cookies may make you a convert!
