Of Chickens and Coops

Mother’s Day afternoon was spent at my mom’s farmhouse. I was inspired by the glorious day, the wind, the flowers, and the chickens so I took pictures like crazy. There were so many details to capture!

Like Sophia, who decided the chickens were just a little too close for comfort . . .

Sunlight and wind and the colors of drying laundry . . .
Purple, white, and yellow . . .
Chickens! Lots of chickens! Also known as “the ladies” with an occasional rooster thrown in for fun.
Owen, who’s favorite pastime is to play “cheetah” these days . . .
My mom and sister gathered eggs with Sophia.
Wellies . . .
Fine wisps of hair, chubby neck . . .
Paper airplane fun . . .
Wearing mommy’s sunglasses . . .
Sophia doesn’t “do” baby swings anymore. And you know you’ve had lots of fun when you’ve got no more sock left!
A Happy Mother’s Day was had by all! I hope those of you who are moms had a wonderful day too.

p.s. what camera and lens are you mostly using these days? and do you usually use auto or manual focus?

Yes, my mom and sister. I’ll edit it and put that in. I guess people won’t know that by osmosis, eh? :)

I still have my Nikon d40, although I greatly desire a full-frame camera. :) And I used my 35mm 1.8 prime on most or all of these shots. I use manual focus pretty much exclusively. And then I just lightly edited them in Lightroom. I shoot RAW so the images are a bit “greyed” out when I import them, but that allows me greater control in processing and I just needed to bump up the contrast and color a bit.

LOVED this post so much!
The images are refreshing and wholesome and beautiful and good.
I want this set in picture-book format!
Great work, Danielle!

I just realized that the gal in the yellow boots is your sister not you. I thought it was you on the other blog. You look very alike.

These are beautiful pics. What a nice place your mom has.

Love Sophia on the swing. Too cute.

That’s ok, Bethany! I knew you’d figure out it wasn’t me. ;) I have cute wellies too though, purple ones!! :)
